RAMADAN 2019
IN THIS MONTH WE ARE ALL GUESTS OF THE MOST MERCIFUL ONE –
Will you host some of the neediest people for Iftaar and earn His reward this month and all year round.

THE MONTH OF RAMADHAN IS ONE FOR PUTTING ASIDE OUR DAILY COMFORTS OF FOOD AND DRINK IN ORDER TO OBEY THE ORDER OF ALLAH S.W.T AND BECOME CLOSER TO HIM.
Whilst we fast we are able to identify with and experience the hunger and thirst of millions of our fellow humans. In communities all across the world many struggle to find a meal throughout the year, let alone during Ramadhan.

THIS RAMADHAN GIVE SOMEONE A GIFT OF IFTAR WITH A LIVE GOAT BREEDING PROGRAMME IN PAKISTAN
In the hilly, remote Thar Desert region of Pakistan, there are little opportunities. Realising there is potential in giving people the tools to determine their own futures, the LFT is supporting young men with a live goats project, enabling families to enrich their diets, sell goats on for income and have additional
There are many more families to reach. The need is here and now. Last year’s drought is still having an impact on families in the poorest villages accessing enough food.
This project has showed us that with a little training and investment, whole families can be lifted out of poverty by their own hard work and determination. All they need are the tools to get started. This Ramadhan we aim to cover this shortage with food baskets and goats to bring additional resilience in the longer term

THIS RAMADHAN GIVE SOMEONE A GIFT OF EDUCATION AND SAVING LIVES WITH IFTAR IN YEMEN
The LFT community has responded with open arms to the ongoing famine in Yemen. Everyday life as it was known has come to a stop for many. Jobs have been lost, families have had to migrate and transport limited. Yet it is Yemen’s children that are impacted the most as schools are forced to close when teachers are unable to buy enough

By supporting teachers with food baskets, we hope that some level of normal daily life can continue and that children can continue to study. Yemen’s future lies with its children –but what if these children cannot study and learn – it is vital we support teachers and their families so that they are given the tools to stay open.
By supporting teachers with food baskets, we hope that some level of normal daily life can continue and that children can continue to study. Yemen’s future lies with its children –
PLEASE HELP US TO CONTINUE THIS SUPPORT INTO RAMADHAN AND BEYOND WITH IFTAAR FOOD BASKET FOR TEACHERS AND THEIR FAMILIES

IRAQ
THIS RAMADHAN GIVE SOMEONE A GIFT OF IFTAAR WITH AND A LIVELIHOOD WITH DIGNITY.
“Through providing these opportunities we are not only empowering the applicants but their families and eventually revolutionising a whole community. We are telling them that’s its okay to dream, and that it’s okay to look beyon“– Hawraa, Head of LFT Operations, Iraq

The ethos of the LFT since its inception is the empowerment of the communities it sets out to serve. In this vein, the situation of widowed mothers in Iraq is a cornerstone of the LFT’s work. Despite economic hardship and trauma, the LFT is investing in mothers to help them to realise their own potential as independent and valued members of society – helping them to live a fulfilled life and make a livelihood with dignity is the Mothernomics project.

MOTHERNOMICS
what is the mothernomics project?
Mothernomics is a skills development and entrepreneurship course in sewing or beauty plus a microfinance package with initial equipment. The mothers receive a package to start their own business after the ceremony. Each package is paid back per month – signifying that this is not a hand out, but something their own hard work and determination has earned.

As the LFT supports more mothers onto the course, many are still struggling to make ends meet and despite working hard, many mothers struggle to meet their family’s daily food needs. As Ramadhan draws closer these families have begun thinking about if they will have enough nutritious food to break their fast.
