Our income generation projects help individuals, families and institutions develop skills and income to become financially independent and stand on their own two feet. For individuals living in some of the poorest countries, wages are low and many families are living day to day. The LFT invests in individuals to help lift whole communities out of poverty.
Our work on income generation includes:
- Enabling mothers to learn transferable skills, find their voice, earn an income, achieve independence and live with dignity through our flagship Mothernomics programme. With the Mothernomics project – combining vocational skills training, a mental health needs assessment, a microfinance loan and a social enterprise model – mothers become tailors, beauticians and caterers and to bring an income in to support their family – often for the first time. The can franchise goods under the Mothernomics brand, ‘MOM’ and raise their visibility in society, becoming active role models for their children and standing on their own two feet.
- Empowering individuals to earn an income with dignity for themselves and their families through our microfinance initiatives including live goats in our ‘YouGoatABeKidding’ and seed funding for entrepreneurs in India Pakistan Tanzania and Yemen.
