Emergency response Libya floods floods in Derna.

We are witnessing apocalyptic footage of widespread damage emerge from the Libyan port city of Derna, where officials estimate that as many as 20,000 people may have died.
The LFT is working with local teams, verified by our long standing partners, and are ready to move support for up to 500 families or 2,500 individuals by the weekend, IA. This will be £25,000 as a first commitment and possibly the same again in four weeks.
Our initial ask was on food but local communities and corporates are taking care of this efficiently for now. The ask is for blankets, pillows and mattresses from temporary shelters within school buildings and distribution points. The most vulnerable widowed mothers and orphaned children, the sick and elderly will be a priority.
We have requested that Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in Derna be the distribution point for the activities so the mosque becomes the centre of assistance.
Please help us reach 1,000 families in our strategic response aimed to help Derna rebuild from this devastating tragedy.
