LFT India emergency response 🇮🇳
The tragic news of the renewed outbreak of the pandemic in India unfolds before our eyes and so many of our brothers and sisters in so many cities and provinces are either affected with the virus, supporting a family member who has been impacted or are having to cope with the anxiety of the spread in their neighbourhood and the ongoing economic impact.
With your encouragement, generosity and prayers we continue to stand with the communities there with various supporting initiatives in Aligarh, Bhavnagar, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. Our local partners and volunteers and their networks are supporting the following needs:
a. Providing oxygen concentrators for community use. These cost £400 each and can support a patient who may not need hospitalisation to be cared from home or a community institution. It is a one-off cost as it does not need oxygen cylinders which to work.
b. Distribution of family food parcels to those economically affected. A food parcel costs £15 and supports a family with the basic necessities to get through the Month of Ramadhan with comfort.
c. With many families having to travel to cities to get a loved one treated, whilst the patient is in isolation, the other family members struggle to have any support, particularly for meals. Through partner organisations we are providing meals to these family members so that they remain nourished and physically strong as they cope with the emotional challenges around them.
d. LFT brothernomics is providing three-year interest free loans and mentoring to cottage industries affected by the pandemic to build back stronger. The cost of supporting a business grow sustainably is £1,000 and as the money is paid back it helps others get empowered.
In the LFT ethos this will help them to help themselves lead a life of dignity and honour.
